Merryhill Elementary School Recycles More Than 1,000 Used Markers

Third-grade students led a project to recycle used markers through the Crayola® ColorCycle program

Students at Merryhill Elementary School on Durango Drive in Las Vegas recently collected more than 1,000 used markers to recycle through the Crayola® ColorCycle program. Through this new program, Crayola® will convert the markers into clean fuel that can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more. The marker drive at Merryhill Elementary School was led by third-grade students, who have been learning the importance of recycling and promoted the program to other students throughout the school. Following the drive, the students helped count and package what totaled more than 20 pounds of markers before they sent them to Crayola®.

Through the Crayola® ColorCycle program, Crayola® and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment.
