Mother Killed, Daughter Injured As They Crossed The Street

The mom's husband, who was right behind them, was not injured.

A mother out for an evening walk with family was killed by a car as she crossed the street. Her daughter was seriously injured. The driver of the car stayed on scene.

Las Vegas Police say that it happened around 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of South Fort Apache Road and West Lake South Drive.

A Chevrolet Cruz hit the two women.

Seventy-one-year-old Angela Meyer was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. Her daughter, 36-year-old Ariella Meyer-Balls, was also taken to UMC. The driver of the Cruz, 25-year-old Emily Roe, stayed at the scene and cooperated. Police do not believe intoxication was a factor.
