🌱 Nevada Hit Hard By Formula Shortage + Las Vegas Sees Wedding Surge
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.
Hello all. It's me, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Las Vegas Daily. Here's all the community news you need to know right now.
First, today's weather:
Plenty of sunshine. High: 91 Low: 70.
Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:
- Nevada is among the top five states hit hardest by the baby formula shortage, and at 52.7 percent below stock, Las Vegas ranked as the No. 1 metro area in the U.S. with a baby formula deficiency. The shortage began with the recall of formula produced by Abbott Nutrition, and it was exacerbated when the FDA closed the plant responsible for making a large portion of the nation's baby formula supply. Even if the plant reopens soon, the FDA estimates the current shortage could take weeks to stabilize as the factory will need to ramp up production. (Nevada Independent)
- A suspect has been booked on a murder charge in connection with the death of a man found under a Las Vegas park. Linal Morris, 41, was found in a tunnel beneath Charlie Frias Park with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Police arrested Donald Blodgett, 38, though it is unclear how he was identified as a suspect. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- Las Vegas is witnessing a wedding surge in 2022. According to the Clark County Commission, the number of domestic couples getting hitched in the Wedding Capital of the World this year has outperformed any other year in recent memory. Big weddings are making a comeback with the drop in COVID-19 restrictions, which is welcome news to the thousands of vendors across the valley. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
