Ross Dress for Less® to Help Kids Learn

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 3, 2022 ̶ Every year, nearly four million young people are served by Boys & Girls Clubs. To show continued support in preparing today’s youth for a brighter tomorrow, Ross Stores, Inc. is again partnering to help Boys & Girls Clubs of America with a three-week point-of-purchase program called, “Help Local Kids Learn,” which supports the nonprofit organization's Power Hour homework program for Club members. The fundraiser began July 30 and continues through Aug. 21.

Southern Nevada Ross Dress for Less (“Ross”) customers can support local Club youth by making a monetary contribution at 27 area Ross stores during checkout. Funds will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, which has 13 locations and serves nearly 1,500 between the ages of 6 to 18 years old each day.

“For the eighth year in a row, Ross Stores is very excited to do the annual Help Local Kids Learn in-store campaign for the Boys & Girls Clubs. This back-to-school campaign will directly help kids at local Clubs across the country. BGCA and Ross’ strong partnership of many years is rooted in our shared commitment to help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens,” said Fred Shuey, senior vice president of Ross Stores.

Help Local Kids Learn Campaign Facts:

• During the back-to-school season, Ross Stores is inviting customers to give at the register to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America from July 30 to Aug. 21. Ross will match the first $400,000 raised.
• 100% of the funds raised at each store will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs, with 80% directed to a local Club in the particular store's community.
• Ross is the national sponsor of BGCA's Power Hour, a program that provides kids and teens with the opportunity to do their homework in a safe place, in-person or virtually, with support from Boys & Girls Club staff.
• Every $5 donation helps provide one half hour of homework help for a Club youth.
• $15 helps keep a kid safe after school.

Local campaign funds will support Power Hour homework help, tutoring and high yield learning activities for Club members of all ages, while also encouraging them to be self-directed learners.

"Encouraging youth to find Academic Success is a big part of what we do in our Clubs,” said Andy Bischel, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. “Homework is a crucial part of learning, and programs like Power Hour set kids up for success with dedicated after-school time, a quiet space, and help from supportive adults to finish homework.”
