Runnin' Rebels Picked To Finish Six While Reno Tapped To Win Conference
The Mountain West Conference also picked Rebels' recruit Brandon McCoy was picked as the preseason Freshman of the year.

The Mountain West Conference had their media day Wednesday for the upcoming 2017-18 men's basketball season and the news was a mixed bag for the University of Nevada. If you attend school in Reno, it was good news. If you go to Las Vegas, not so much.
The conference released their preseason poll and the Nevada Wolfpack were picked to repeat at regular season and tournament champion. The Rebels, meanwhile, were pegged to finish sixth in the 11-team conference.

On the plus side for the Rebels, freshman recruit Brandon McCoy, who is expected to see lots of playing time at center, was picked as the conference's preseason freshman of the year.
He arrives at the Rebels from Cathedral High School in San Diego where he made McDonald's High School All-American eam after averaging 28.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 5.3 rebounds per game.

ESPN.com named him the 16th best prospect in the nation.
Over in Reno, Caleb Martin, a junior forward who sat as a redshirt last season after transferring from the North Carolina State Wolf Pack, was picked as the conference newcomer of the year. He is a junior.
