Vegas Golden Knights: 'We're Going To Pick Our Team Tomorrow,' Says GM
General Manager George McPhee says his phone's been ringing for days with calls from other GMs. Tuesday, he stops answering.

"We're in a good place," Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee says as he assess where the team is just days away from the expansion draft that will give them a team.
For the past few days, teams around the league have been protecting some players but mostly making public who is going to be available for the National Hockey League's newest team.
And as that happened, McPhee has been fielding call after call from other general managers trying to suss out what his plans are, whether he is open to trades.

"What we've told everyone is that today will be the last day we will have those discussions," McPhee told reporters on Monday. "We are going to pick our team tomorrow."
It's not so easy as just picking players. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).

First, there are position requirements: they have to take 14 forwards, nine defensemen, three goalies.
But then, there are other considerations.
At least 20 have to be under contract for next season and they have to add up to a certain percentage of the salary cap.
"We will have a discussion with the league tomorrow night about what our team is going to look like and make sure we meet all the requirements," McPhee said. "If everything is ok then I will sleep on it, and just send it in the morning."
The expansion draft is Wednesday. Then, on Thursday, is the league's entry draft.
By the end of the day Thursday, Golden Knight fans will pretty much know who they will be rooting for.
