Walking a Mile in Her Shoes
Briova Rx Pie a Manager in the Face Campaign to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The fight to find a cure for cancer continues. It’s a long chase, but for someone like Jaclyn Latteri, it may be best accomplished by walking.
As a director of pharmacy operations at OptumRx in Las Vegas, she has led the company’s partnership with the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Employees from OptumRx and its specialty pharmacy company BriovaRx recently held a series of local fundraisers, including a good-natured event on July 26 that featured Jaclyn’s co-workers tossing cream pies at their managers’ faces.
State Sen. Scott Hammond joined in the event and commended employees for their support of the LLS. “Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Your support celebrates cancer survivors, honors loved ones and helps raise funds to help find a cure.”

The fundraisers lead up to LLS’ 2017 Light the Night, an event that funds treatments and aims to bring light to the darkness of cancer.
For Jaclyn, like many others, the fight against cancer hits close to home. Her best friend passed away from leukemia at age 23, and her cousin is now in a difficult battle with Stage 4 breast cancer.

“I fight for this cause because it’s personal,” Jaclyn says about the many hours of off-work time and energy she devotes to organizing and promoting the fundraisers.
She is looking forward to Light the Night and encouraging fellow employees and others involved to make a real impact – either by raising funds or donating their own money. Jaclyn will help out whenever and wherever she can, including signing up teams of co-workers and keeping a celebratory mood going through the night of the Nov. 4 walk. “I'll be here to support and encourage them along the way,” she says. “It’s our night to bring light to the darkness of cancer. It will be a wonderful evening where we come together as a community.”
“I am grateful for the support BriovaRx and OptumRx employees are giving to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” said Robert Sanchez, LLS senior campaign manager. “By working together we are improving the health and well-being of the Las Vegas community.”
