Wetlands Park Fire Sends Smoke Billowing

Fires are not uncommon in the area, often the result of the area's homeless population, officials say.

A fire at Wetlands Park grew to more than 10 acres and sent smoke billowing into the sky Monday morning. It was called in just after 3:30 a.m.

Officials say that the fire isn't threatening any structures but is in area that's difficult for access. Clark County Fire, which sent three units to the scene, is working with the Bureau of Land Management, which sent hand crews.

The fire is located on land to the east of Sam Boyd Stadium.
