Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:
- Winter watering restrictions are now in effect through Feb. 28, meaning that landscape watering is allowed one day a week. Las Vegas area residents all have assigned watering days based on their addresses. Water waste investigators will be ticketing people for improper watering, starting with $80. And it doubles each time from there. (KTNV Las Vegas)
- The need for paramedics among first responders is so great in the Las Vegas Valley, fire departments and ambulance companies are sending their employees to an emerging local school for training. Paramedics are the most-trained medical workers among EMS first responders who assist in 911 calls and medical emergencies. Training for paramedics includes work in hospitals within emergency room settings, operating rooms, respiratory therapy, mental health and other critical needs seen on 911 calls. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- Students in the Nevada System of Higher Education had until the end of Monday to submit their vaccination statuses to be able to register for the upcoming spring semester. (News3LV)
- The city of North Las Vegas, in collaboration with Nevada Partners, just opened a new STEM center. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- Vegas Vegan Culinary School, opening Nov. 6, isn't just the first vegan cooking school in Las Vegas, it's also the first non-accredited vegan cooking school in the US. The vegan cooking school caters to all levels of culinary skills. (Vegans, Baby)
