• NV Energy files to cut electric rates for Southern Nevada Customers (fox5vegas.com) — NV Energy is asking state regulators to approve lower electric rates for Southern Nevada starting October 1, which would trim bills for North Las Vegas households by about $5 a month. The utility says cheaper fuel and wholesale power costs are driving the proposed 3.63% residential decrease, part of its regular quarterly rate adjustments overseen by the Public Utilities Commission.
   

• Report: Amazon scans books for AI data, destroys them at North Las Vegas facility (miamiherald.com) — An Amazon fulfillment center in North Las Vegas is reportedly scanning and shredding books to create AI training data, according to a detailed investigation that tracked bulk shipments to the LAS8 warehouse. The report describes a specialized unit inside the facility that digitizes books after purchase, raising fresh questions for local and international booksellers about how AI companies treat the cultural and historical value of printed works.
   

• Harry Reid airport unveils aviation photo contest winners (fox5vegas.com) — Aviation fans from around the valley, including North Las Vegas, can now see five winning National Aviation Day photos displayed at Harry Reid International Airport. The images, chosen from more than 350 entries, showcase dramatic stormy landings, sweeping panoramas, and colorful skies, and will be on view for the next year for travelers passing through the busy hub.
