🌱 1,000+ UNR Students Get Vax Waiver + Trooper Wounds Suspect

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. More than 1,000 University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College students have successfully received a waiver from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. It's an increase from the 200 students who previously applied for waivers from other longstanding vaccine requirements at UNR, including the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella. (Reno Gazette-Journal)
  2. Authorities say a hit-and-run suspect was hospitalized after being shot and wounded by a Nevada State Police trooper in an area between Reno and Carson City. The State Police said the incident occurred Wednesday when a trooper encountered the suspect who was walking under an Interstate 580 overpass following a two-vehicle crash. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  3. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) recently announced the opening of two tribal cannabis dispensaries with drive-thrus in South Reno and Verdi. (Benzinga)
  4. Nellie Davis, the owner of Outsider Hair Salon and Studio in downtown Reno, said she started her business as a place where people could feel comfortable no matter their background. (Reno Gazette-Journal)
  5. For the second year in a row, Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission leaders are hosting a grab-and-go Thanksgiving dinner rather than a sit-down meal in their dining hall. (KOLO)
