Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. Three people are expected to survive a shooting near Roller Kingdom in Reno on Thursday night, according to the Reno Police Department. Officials say the shooting took place south of the Roller Kingdom parking lot between Elko Avenue and Valley Road just after 8 p.m. Three people were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  2. Crews responded to a ten-car crash on South McCarran Boulevard at South Virginia Street on Friday night. Officials said nine people suffered minor injuries, but no one was taken to the hospital. One car caught on fire, but it was quickly extinguished. It's unclear what might have caused the crash at this time. (KTVN)
  3. Nearly a dozen Southwest flights in and out of Reno have been canceled on Sunday due to air traffic control issues and inclement weather. (KRNV My News 4)
  4. Former State Senator Ben Kieckhefer, R-Reno, was appointed to the Nevada Gaming Commission. Kieckhefer announced his retirement from the Nevada Legislature on Thursday, the day before Gov. Steve Sisolak made his appointment. (The Record-Courier)
  5. Research to develop ways to warn firefighters and the public about weather-generated hazards like fire tornadoes is underway at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Desert Research Institute. (KOLO)
