The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Good morning, Reno! Let's get you all caught up to start this day off on an informed note. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Clouds breaking and chilly. High: 43 Low: 24.

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. Developer and casino-owner Jeff Jacobs is proposing 1,000 new affordable housing units for the workforce in downtown Reno. Jacobs has offered up some of his own land as part of a potential public-private partnership to build more housing as well as public parking downtown. This is all provided that the city of Reno contributes to the deal with either additional infrastructure funding or by securing more real estate. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  2. Police are investigating a shooting in West Park where a man died on Saturday night. The shooting took place in the area of SW 1st Street and SW 59th Terrace. The victim was rushed to the hospital for gunshot wounds but was pronounced dead there. (WPLG Local 10)
  3. A man fired through the door of La Quinta Inn near the Reno Airport and shot a woman in the leg. The woman had non-life-threatening injuries and has not shared much information about what happened. Police describe the suspect as clean-shaven and said that he drove away in a gray or silver sedan.
