Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. Knightscope, a developer of security robots, has entered into an agreement with the University of Nevada, Reno, to deploy autonomous robots on campus for enhanced security measures. The K5 ASR robots, equipped with advanced robotics and AI technology, will conduct round-the-clock patrols, working in collaboration with the University of Nevada Police Department-Northern Command. Their primary area of operation will be the parking garage adjacent to the student center, reinforcing safety and providing peace of mind to students and faculty. (KOLO)
  2. On Tuesday, a ribbon-cutting was held at a new Neighborhood Center on Moana Lane. The ribbon-cutting was held by Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, SilverSummit Healthplan, and the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, bringing pantry services and comprehensive support to central Reno residents and offering them increased accessibility to Catholic Charities' resources. The center features a Client Choice Pantry, resembling a grocery store, where clients can select culturally specific food items that cater to their preferences, and case workers provide a range of services, including health screenings, vaccinations, housing assistance, and parenting classes. (KTVN)
  3. A woman was hospitalized on Tuesday night in Reno after being hit by a car on South Virginia Street near Gentry Way at approximately 9:15 p.m. The woman was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident and was struck by the car and trapped underneath it until she was rescued. She was then taken to Renown Hospital with undisclosed injuries, while the driver remained at the scene. Reno police are currently conducting an investigation, but impairment is not believed to be a factor in the accident. (KTVN)
