Video: ICE deportation flights from Reno-Tahoe airport draw protest (thisisreno.com) β Weekly ICE transfer flights using charter carriers at Reno-Tahoe International Airport have drawn enough concern that readers tipped off This Is Reno, prompting reporters to confirm at least 25 such flights from January through June. The flights, occurring most Fridays at Stellar Aviation, reportedly surprised even airport officials, who say they first learned of the operations by monitoring social media.

Reno events this week: A jazz tribute, summer snow day and immersive art (thisisreno.com) β Reno has a packed week of entertainment, from the Village Summer Concert Series at Rancharrah and the Moonlit Market's immersive art and vendors, to a family-friendly Summer Snow Day at Sky Tavern. You can also catch a George Benson tribute with the Reno Jazz Orchestra and a high-energy country rock show at SoL Cannabis, with more listings on the full local calendar.

3. 18-year-old killed after being struck by vehicle in northwest Reno (rgj.com subscription) β A teenager riding a scooter was struck and killed Sunday afternoon while crossing McCarran Boulevard against the signal near Mae Anne Avenue in northwest Reno. Police say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating, and investigators do not believe speed or impairment were factors. Anyone who saw the crash is urged to contact Reno police or Secret Witness with information.

Northern Nevada Pride 2026 (kunr.org) β Northern Nevada Pride is set to take over downtown Reno on Saturday, Sept. 12, with a free morning parade along Virginia Street and an all-day festival at Wingfield Park. The event supports Our Center's LGBTQ+ advocacy and services, with tickets, VIP options, and volunteer opportunities available online for locals who want to join in or help out.

Reno Gleaning Project assists in fire aftermath (kolotv.com) β Reno Gleaning Project is urgently asking local fruit tree owners to donate their extra harvest so volunteers can supply fresh produce to fire-affected families, including members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony. With many trees burned or frost-damaged, they have more trained pickers than fruit and are ready to come to your property, pick, bag, and deliver fruit directly to organizations helping people in need.
