Drop-offs run Sept. 5–7 at 5125 Mill St., with small donations supporting Scout Troop 1847's environmental and community programs while keeping usable items out of local landfills.
   

2. Reno employee health plan faces rising costs as claims jump 20% (thisisreno.com) — Reno City Council members are weighing possible changes to the city's self-funded employee health insurance plan after medical claims jumped 20% in the last fiscal year, draining reserves. The brief also invites residents to sign up for free access and daily Reno-focused headlines, underscoring how this financial pressure could shape future city spending and worker benefits.
   

3. Raggio Parkway closed after vehicle rolls onto its side in Reno crash (foxreno.com) — Raggio Parkway in Reno is closed after a vehicle rolled onto its side Friday afternoon, and police are still on scene. Authorities haven't released details on injuries or how long the closure will last, so drivers should avoid the area and watch for updates as investigators piece together what caused the crash.

Local public health emergency declared over ash danger in Reno fires (rgj.com subscription) — Reno-area residents are being urged not to disturb ash or debris from recent wildfires after Northern Nevada's health department declared a local public health emergency. Meet the Reno Fire Department's newest graduating class (2news.com) — Reno residents will see 15 newly graduated firefighters joining local crews as soon as this morning, bringing the Reno Fire Department back to full staffing after weeks of intense wildfire activity.
