Residents can meet recruiters, submit resumes, and even interview on-site, with organizers urging attendees to dress professionally and bring multiple resume copies.
2. Reno breaks ground on Nevada's first advanced purified water facility (fox5vegas.com) — Reno has broken ground on Nevada's first advanced purified water facility in the North Valleys, a project designed to boost drought resilience and reduce flooding risks. Backed by more than $39 million in grants, the city, TMWA, Sparks, and Washoe County are collaborating to reuse treated wastewater for future potable use without raising current TMWA customer rates.
3. Washoe County declares public health emergency (kolotv.com) — Washoe County has declared a public health emergency after the Hawk, Bug, and Stallion fires damaged Reno neighborhoods, unlocking federal support and guiding insurance claims. Residents are urged to handle ash and debris cautiously, change home air filters, and avoid disturbing contaminated materials to protect health and preserve eligibility for assistance.
4. Mason Duplissie Heads Reno Chamber Orchestra (kunr.org) — Reno's Chamber Orchestra has a new executive director, Mason Duplissie, who's focused on deepening the orchestra's community role and live-music experience. As he settles into the job, he's drawing on national arts experience while preparing for the 2026–27 season starting October 4.
5. 25-year-old Reno man killed in I-80 ramp motorcycle crash; NHP investigates (mynews4.com) — Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that killed 25-year-old Reno resident Joshua David Gummert on the I-80 to northbound U.S. 395 transition ramp in Reno. The August 20 overnight crash left the rider dead at the scene after his Harley-Davidson overturned and struck roadside barriers.
