Hotels offering discounts for those affected by Floriston Fire evacuations (mynews4.com) — If you've been evacuated by the Floriston Fire, several Reno resorts are offering deeply discounted rooms, including J Resort, Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus Circus Reno, and Grand Sierra Resort, some with waived resort fees and RV parking. These special rates are limited to specific nights and availability, so evacuees and fire crews should call ahead or use the provided booking codes quickly.
2. Dale Keller named next RTC Executive Director (2news.com) — Leadership at Washoe County's Regional Transportation Commission is changing, with longtime engineer and current deputy director Dale Keller selected as the next executive director, pending contract approval. His promotion means Reno riders and drivers can expect continuity in major road and transit projects, since he's led key interstate and arterial improvements and will replace retiring director Bill Thomas after October 30.
