• Floriston Fire is now 55% contained, using drones to locate hotspots (2news.com) — Reno-Sparks residents are seeing lingering smoke as the Floriston Fire near Truckee reaches 55% containment, with I-80 fully open on the Nevada side but partially restricted in California. Local casinos, including Circus Circus Reno, Silver Legacy, Eldorado, J Resort, and Grand Sierra, are offering discounted rooms for evacuees, while Northern Nevada Public Health warns of air quality impacts from regional wildfires, especially for sensitive groups.
• Load Up On Fresh Produce At This Massive Nevada Farmers Market Without Breaking The Bank (takingthekids.com) — Reno residents can shop every Sunday at Riverside Farmers' Market in Idlewild Park, where vetted local vendors offer fresh produce, baked goods, meats, and hot breakfasts year-round. • Renown Health to Build New Children's Hospital After $40 Million Donation (americanow.com) — Families in Reno and northern Nevada can expect a major boost in pediatric care as Renown Health plans a new standalone children's hospital on its Reno Regional campus, funded by a record $40 million gift. The expanded facility will consolidate children's services, build on Renown's trauma and NICU capabilities, and keep more specialized care closer to home for local kids.
