Reno City Council to consider zoning changes, $4.9 million fire apparatus purchase (thisisreno.com) — Reno City Council meets Sept. 23 to decide key zoning changes, a $4.9 million fire apparatus purchase, and a long-term lease of the former Rosewood Lakes Golf Course for wetlands restoration and public nature use. Council will also weigh contracts for parks, paths, city facilities, and regional planning appointments, plus receive a General Fund financial update.
2. City of Reno launches 'Finding the Light' opioid awareness campaign (2news.com) — Reno is rolling out a new "Finding the Light" opioid awareness campaign, funded by a statewide settlement, to reduce stigma and connect residents with treatment resources. Local survivors now working at Washoe County's Crossroads program share their recovery stories, hoping to encourage Reno neighbors struggling with addiction to seek help and stay safe.
3. Truckers forced to make tough decisions as Reno diesel price sits above $7 per gallon (2news.com) — Diesel prices in Reno just hit a record $7.04 a gallon, easing only slightly while still squeezing local truckers' profits and schedules. Independent drivers say they're turning down loads and delaying trips home, while fuel surcharges push up the cost of groceries, restaurant meals, and online orders for Reno residents. Statewide and national diesel prices are also at or near record highs.
4.
