First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and cold. High: 42 Low: 14.
Here are the top 3 stories in Reno today:
- Bank of America is hoping to help different communities advance racial equality and economic opportunity. Recently, it awarded $315,000 to local nonprofits and organizations in Reno and all across Northern Nevada. It has focused on supporting organizations that center on "alleviating impacts on workforce development, food insecurity, affordable housing, and education." Bank of America hopes that these donations will help close equity and wealth gaps in communities of color. (Northern Nevada Business Weekly)
- The Reno housing crisis is not new news for anyone in Nevada. Ballooning rent and home prices have made it difficult for the city's residents. In response, they have been pushing the local city council to take action. Thankfully, a special meeting took place this past Tuesday to address the crisis and discuss potential solutions. The most feasible solutions to take away from the meeting are to create dorm-style units and a hi-way motel. For more details on these ideas, please check out the full article. (KRNV My News 4)
- The Nevada State Police and the Reno Police Department Police shut down an I-580 northbound off-ramp in South Reno this past Tuesday afternoon after a body was found nearby. According to reports, the body was found in a culvert. The death was determined by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office and was said to have been from natural causes. (KOLO)
