For the first time ever, SPCA of Northern Nevada is offering Kitten Kindergarten — a six-week course designed to help kittens grow into confident, well-adjusted cats while giving their humans the tools to better understand them every step of the way. 
Whether you've recently adopted a kitten or simply want to give your newest family member the best possible start, this class is for you. And yes — kittens are not only welcome, they're encouraged to attend! 🥰 
Through socialization, play, handling, and positive experiences, you'll learn how to support your kitten during one of the most important stages of their development. Instead of focusing on correcting behaviors, we'll focus on building trust, confidence, and communication. 
Plus, you'll spend six weeks surrounded by adorable kittens and fellow cat lovers. 🥹

Vertical Barre Presents 5th Annual "Art of Pole Dance" Aerial Showcase at Reno Public Market

RENO, Nev. — Experience an unforgettable evening of aerial athleticism, artistry, and American storytelling at the 5th Annual Art of Pole Dance aerial showcase, presented by Vertical Barre. The family-friendly performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Reno Public Market, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.

In celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial—the 250th anniversary of the United States—students and instructors of Vertical Barre will bring iconic moments, historical figures, and beloved characters from American history and pop culture to life through a variety of aerial disciplines.

The showcase features performances on pole, fly pole, aerial hoop, and silks, demonstrating the unique blend of strength, athleticism, artistry, and dance that defines the aerial arts. Designed for audiences of all ages, the event offers an opportunity to discover the diverse world of aerial performance and experience firsthand why aerial arts are recognized as both a sport and an art form.

A featured performer in this year’s showcase is Christine Fox, a former professional figure skater turned professional pole athlete. Fox competes nationally and internationally and has earned recognition for her elite-level performances. Audiences will have the chance to witness the extraordinary skill, power, and artistry required to perform at the highest levels of the sport.

The Art of Pole Dance showcase is an official Artown event and one of Northern Nevada’s premier opportunities to experience aerial performance in a community setting.

Imagine the sun-soaked charm of Palm Springs circa ‘62 mixed with a dash of California coastal weirdness in a mod-inspired dreamscape. Kimmi Bitter is a paradox that echoes classic country traditions while breaking the rules at the same time. A rising force in the underground Americana scene, she blends old school with new cool, capturing the attention of fans and critics alike. That boundary-pushing spirit shines in her debut album Old School (2024), which landed in the Top 25 on the Americana Album Radio Chart and earned eight nominations and three wins. The album also topped the Alt. Country Specialty Charts for four consecutive weeks and received an Album of the Year nod from Saving Country Music alongside Sierra Ferrell, Red Clay Strays, and Billy Strings. Her singles “Aquamarine” and “Cowboy Kind of Girl” won Song of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 San Diego Music Awards, beating nominees like Jason Mraz and P.O.D.
