- The Greater Nevada Credit Union will host a career fair in Reno this week on Jan. 12. The career fair will include the opportunity for walk-in interviews and informational meetings, in addition to on-the-spot hiring for select positions. Interested applicants can come in from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and apply for positions such as member service representatives, call-center representatives, and video member service representatives. - A recent graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, won first prize in the Inaugural Hugh Henne Investment Competition. Joshua C. Palabay won $1,000 in the competition, which allowed participants to perform real-time simulations using Rotman Portfolio Manager software. (Nevada Today)
- Students and staff continue to speak out about the COVID-19 vaccine mandate that affects Nevada System of Higher Education staff, but not students. While staff are required to be vaccinated, there are no state regulations requiring Nevada students to receive a vaccination. (KUNR Public Radio)

- The Reno Police Department welcomes an adorable new K9 member to the force: Monroe! Monroe is a Belgian Malinois. According to the department, "they call him 'Money Monroe' because he is always on the money!" (Facebook)
- Visit the Nevada Museum of Art to discover pieces like Minerva Pierce's "Autumn Reflections." This painting was done in Idlewild Park in Reno. (Facebook)
- The city of Reno wants to update its policy on tree protection and asks for community input. Community members can submit comments online and read more about the city's current tree protection standards. (Reno.gov)
