🌱 City & County Budgets Released + Housing Market Cool-Down?

Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. Washoe County and the City of Reno have released their budgets, each totaling around $1 billion. Washoe County will be hiring 100 new positions but is facing cuts in many other areas. Learn more at the link. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  2. Wednesday's fire in midtown Reno was caused by "carelessly discarded smoking materials, "according to the Reno Fire Department. The fire started just after 6:30 p.m. at a building on Vesta Street. Officials remind residents that it's important to be careful where you smoke and how those materials are disposed of. (KRNV)
  3. Will the housing market cool down, or stay hot this summer? The Reno-Sparks Association of Realtors might have some insight. They released their latest home sales data, which indicates that the median sales price for a single-family home in Reno has risen 3.5 percent since March and 21 percent since 2021. Officials say the recent slowdown shows prices may be stabilizing, but it is still a seller's market. (KRNV)
