🌱 City Plans To Clean UNR Homeless Camp + More Green Energy

Here's a five-minute guide to the most important things happening in town today.

Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Rachel Kilimnik, your host of the Reno Daily.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories in Reno today:

  1. A homeless encampment near the University of Nevada campus has gained the attention of some locals and students. The encampment started a few months ago, with a few tents, and now seems to be getting bigger on a regular basis. Reno Police stops by once a week, providing help to those who want it. When they do clean the area, the city says they try to give people notice and to connect them to resources, but the city says, unfortunately, the acceptance of those resources are very low. (KTVN)
  2. More green energy is coming to the city of Reno. The upcoming Moana Pool is partnering with NV Energy for a special project. The lot just off West Moana Lane and Baker Lane will soon be home to a two-story aquatic facility fit with an indoor competition pool, a multipurpose room, outdoor pool, locker rooms, a 6,000 square foot fitness center, and now several solar panels.   3. The Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission, including staff and volunteers, plans to hit the streets on Wednesday to give out 200 frozen turkeys and all the fixings for Thanksgiving Dinner. This community outreach effort is part of its Random Acts of Kindness Event, an annual service for families in need. (KTVN)
  4. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada will host its annual Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in need this holiday season. (KRNV My News 4)
