Starting on Monday, August 16, 2021, City of Reno Public Works will be removing the HESCO® barriers that were originally installed beginning in March 2017 in response to flooding around Silver Lake.

The HESCO barriers were an important part of emergency flood-protection measures for the industrial buildings that surround Silver Lake in the Stead area. These protection measures assisted in preventing flooding of Moya Boulevard and also kept vital transportation corridors open and accessible to the public.

Reader boards have been installed on Moya Boulevard, advising drivers of this upcoming project. Public Works crews will be active starting Monday, but the bulk of the work will occur Tuesdays through Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for the next few weeks until the project is complete.
