Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. On Thursday, the City of Reno announced its new pilot program to make infrastructure improvements for bicycles and scooters. The goal of the project, which may bring about changes such as bike rails and reduced lane widths, is to create a safe connection from downtown Reno to Midtown. The Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance, the region's biggest bicyclist advocacy organization, has been advocating for a dedicated cycle track on Center Street. (KRNV)
  2. A local woman is helping feral cats across Reno by getting them fixed and vaccinated. Rachel Story's "Feral at Heart" initiative begins with her catching the feral cats, then bringing them to Options Veterinary Care to get spayed or neutered as well as caught up on their vaccines. After the vet visit, Story releases the cats back to where they were originally trapped. She said of her project, "These cats ... really need to be fixed so they're not multiplying, because when they do, then they're fighting for food [and] resources." (KOLO)
  3. The Reno Fire Department has deemed a Wednesday afternoon fire near Plumb Lane and Lakeside Drive to be intentionally set. The blaze, which started outside, eventually burned into the home and attic. Anyone with information or video related to the incident is asked to call fire investigators at 775-334-2300; anonymous tips can also be shared with Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 or go to http://www.secretwitness.com.
