Councilman Kristopher Dahir Bid for NV Secretary of State 2022

Kristopher Dahir, currently serving his 2nd term on the City Council for Sparks, Nevada and this year’s President of the Nevada League of Cities, has announced his bid for the Secretary of State position in Nevada in 2022. “My goal is simple: to rebuild trust and integrity in government for residents and businesses in the great state of Nevada.” Kristopher is passionate about sharing his vision as Secretary of State. Key responsibilities of this position include election oversight and certification, licensing of Nevada businesses and organizations, and registration and oversight of securities.

Mr. Dahir, a Republican, has lived in Nevada for most of his life. Growing up in Las Vegas, he now makes his home in the northern Nevada city of Sparks. In 2021, he ran unopposed for his second term on the Sparks City Council. In 2020, he was elected President of the Nevada League of Cities, and he serves as Vice Chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee for the National League of Cities. A strong advocate for veterans, work force development and helping our most vulnerable, he serves as the Board Chair for the Nevada Veterans Memorial and as chaplain for a local Veteran’s home.

Mr. Dahir holds a B.S. in psychology and M.S. in strategic leadership. For most of his career, he has concentrated on work with non-profits and businesses to help them run more concise and focused operations. He has travelled to over 40 countries, leading and training leaders in the area of practical and principled leadership. Kristopher and his wife Melissa, have been married for 27 years and have two grown sons, Adam and Noah. His fundraising efforts are underway with his first fundraiser set for April 15.
