Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. A Reno man was sentenced to spend up to eight years in prison after being found guilty on multiple prostitution charges. The 23-year-old was sentenced for inducing a person to engage in prostitution by use of force or immediate threat of force. (FoxReno.com)
  2. Sparks councilman Donald Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19. Abbott was vaccinated back in February, but has stressed that his mild symptoms are inconsequential when he reflects on the funerals he has attended for friends who died from COVID-19. The councilman warns against misinformation surrounding the vaccine and attributes his mild symptoms to the protection provided by the vaccine. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  3. More El Dorado County residents are being allowed back to their homes as the Caldor Fire evacuations have been downgraded. Some evacuated residents sought shelter at the Reno Sparks Convention Center. (ABC 10)
