Here are the top 3 stories in Reno today:
- With so much uncertainty surrounding the events taking place in Ukraine, Reno has decided to do whatever it can do to help. Thanks to a donation drive that took place this past weekend, a truck-load of supplies will be sent out to those in need in Ukraine. Alyona Nekrasova is the woman responsible for organizing this drive for the community. She has family in Ukraine and was brought to tears in response to everyone's support. (KRNV)
- The Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) kicked off its 17th annual Shave for the Brave Event last Friday. It is the biggest head-shaving event in all of Nevada. Last week over 130 people got their heads shaved to show their support for children battling cancer. Each person who got their head shaved raised at least $100 for the cause. All proceeds will be going to the Saint Baldricks Foundation. The foundation is very close to reaching its $150,000 goal! (KOLO)
- Many difficult questions were asked at the University of Nevada, Reno's Ukraine Panel; however, not many definitive answers were supplied. The important conversation took place last Friday at the student union. There was a panel of experts that consisted of "all faculty members with considerable background and knowledge in public policy and international affairs." Even with all of these bright minds present, the panelists admitted the events in Ukraine came as a surprise to them as well. (KOLO)
