Here are the top 3 stories today in Reno:
- A northern Nevada nonprofit is working to raise awareness about the gender pay gap by helping women "transition out of poverty and pursue careers year-round." Throughout Women's History Month, Dress for Success has been especially packed for organizers. The organization is currently asking businesses and individuals to donate what is equivalent to an hour's worth of their pay. The donation money will go towards supporting the mission of celebrating women in leadership positions by providing more tools for more women. (KRNV)
- Yesterday afternoon, crews responded to a fire that was reported at Old River Inn in Reno. According to reports, firefighters received the call to action at around 2:00 p.m. Currently, the cause of fire is still under investigation. Thankfully, there were no injuries; however, the fire did burn through half an acre and affected one building. This is a developing story, so we will make sure to keep you updated. (FoxReno.com)
- At the Washoe County Regional Animal Services, there are 18 dogs that are in kennels marked as "Case Animal." What sets these dogs apart from others is that they were a part of the 34 dogs that were seized during an animal hoarding case. All 34 dogs were found cramped in a small basement apartment in Lemmon Valley. According to authorities, there has been a recent uptick in hoarding cases. Seven cases have already been reported for this year alone. (KOLO)
