Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- On Friday afternoon, The Nevada Department of Agriculture and Made In Nevada rolled out their first Nevada Craft Beverage Passport at IMBIB Custom Brews in Reno. More than 30 Nevada craft beverage makers from across the state are featured in the passport and participants have until Dec. 31 to get as many stamps as possible. According to Ciara Ressel of the Agriculture Department, the more locations stamped on a passport, the bigger the prize passport holders get at year's end. (Nevada Appeal)
- In the coming days, two drive-thru marijuana dispensaries will be opening on tribal land in Reno. On Saturday, Three Nations Cannabis, owned by the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, is opening a full-service dispensary in south Reno. A second location will be opening on Mar. 12 at the old Taco Bell in Verdi. (FoxReno.com)
- To celebrate National Engineering Week, local non-profit Envirolution has partnered with the University of Nevada, Reno to host its first annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. The program is intended to encourage girls to go into engineering, as studies have shown that involving students in unique experiences early in their education fosters interest in engineering. Forty-two girls participated in the event, which featured various engineering disciplines, from building a balloon car, to learning about mechanical engineering, to building a bridge out of paper, to learning about civil engineering.
