The quickest way to get caught up on everything worth knowing around town today.
Good morning, Reno! It's Tuesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on in Reno today.
First, today's weather:
Clear throughout the day. High: 62 Low: 39.
Here are the top stories today in Reno:
- John Cushman, foundation professor with the University of Nevada, Reno, has been awarded a $1.55 million grant from the National Science Foundation. The goal of his research team in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is to create drought-tolerant crops to aid global food production during periods of intense drought. (Nevada Today)
- It appears that the residential real estate market in the Reno-Sparks area has begun to stabilize. In fact, the area's real estate market today looks quite a bit like the market in 2019. This would be before the COVID-19 restrictions and limited inventories set off a frenzy of bidding wars and rapidly escalating prices. (Reno Gazette Journal)
- The City of Reno will soon require its employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. The new requirement will unfold when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gives full approval of the Moderna shot. Unvaccinated city employees need to use N-95 masks until that time. (KUNR Public Radio)
