🌱 Food Truck Friday Vendor Application + No Shave Campaign
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.
Good day, people of Reno! It's me again, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Reno Daily.
First, today's weather:
Plenty of sun, but chilly. High: 40 Low: 18.
Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- The deadline to apply to be a vendor at Reno's Food Truck Friday is quickly approaching. Those looking to participate in one of the top 10 largest weekly food truck events in the U.S. have until Feb. 15 to submit their application. Food Truck Friday is held at Reno's Idlewild Park. (FoxReno.com)
- The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has raised more than $17,000 during its annual 'No Shave' campaign. The voluntary fundraising campaign benefits different local non-profits each month and ran between Oct. 1, 2021, and Jan. 31, 2022. The Sheriff's Office staff has donated more than $135,000 to community non-profits since the campaign started in 2016. (KOLO)
- Nevada Storm, the area's women's tackle football team, held their annual bingo fundraiser to raise money for their upcoming season. More than 100 supporters attended the fundraiser at Coral Academy of Science Elementary off of Neil Road on Sunday morning. The Storm has moved through the ranks of the Women's Football Alliance — the league the Storm plays in — and is looking to bring home a trophy in the top league, known as Pro. (KOLO)
From our sponsor:
Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They're chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond "Dry January." We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we've since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.
Enough of you took Betera up on their 15% discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they've extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.
Today in Reno:
- Special Family Story Time With Washoe County Manager Eric Brown, At Downtown Reno Library (10:15 AM)
From my notebook:
- The Reno Police Department wants to give a warm welcome to AnnJoLee, who is their new Public Service Intern in RPD Records Dept. (Facebook)
- Last month's Lahontan Audubon Society webinar, "Seabirds with Richard Podolsky" is up on their YouTube channel. (Facebook)
- Did you know that in addition to the National Automobile Museum's fascinating automobile collection, they have a variety of auto-related artifacts and memorabilia in the museum too? (Facebook)
- Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is giving away seven unique prizes over seven days to seven lucky winners in the spirit of the Lunar New Year. (Instagram)
