Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- A new K-9 has joined the Reno Police Department, according to an announcement made by Police Chief Jason Soto on Thursday morning. The K-9 is a two-year-old Golden Retriever mix named Winter who will serve as a facility dog to help support crime victims. Winter is the very first facility K-9 to work in a law enforcement environment in the state of Nevada. (KOLO)
- The Reno City Council gathered on Wednesday for its regularly scheduled meeting. During the meeting, the council approved several agenda items, including a request for a conditional use permit to construct a skyway over East Commercial Row. - An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday following an attempted armed robbery at a Lemmon Valley 7-11 convenience store. The suspect, Jaran Twohearts, fled on foot before leading police on two separate vehicular chases throughout the course of the morning. Police eventually apprehended Twohearts near Clear Acre Lane and took the suspect into custody without further incident. (FoxReno.com)
