Here are the top 3 stories today in Reno:

  1. The first new casino to be built in Reno-Sparks in 26 years will open soon. The 80,000-square-foot casino will have table games, slot machines, video poker, and multiple restaurants. If everything goes according to schedule, it will open over the summer at the Legends at Sparks Marina. (KOLO)
  2. Hundreds gathered in downtown Reno to advocate for abortion rights. Across the nation, protesters held "Bans Off Our Bodies" rallies and marches to rally against a potential overturning of Roe v. Wade, the federal court precedent that legalized abortion in 1973. Speakers at the Reno protest noted that Nevada has codified abortion rights, but access remains limited and, if other states make abortion illegal, it could cause an influx of people coming to the Silver State to get the medical procedure. 3. Reno pedestrians and drivers received citations during a safety sting on Friday the 13th. Reno police issued 57 citations and four warnings in areas that have the highest number of pedestrian-related crashes, in the hopes of reminding people of Nevada's traffic laws that keep pedestrians safe.
