🌱A Local's Annual Food Drive For Homeless + Reno's Opioid Crisis

Here's the latest from Reno, delivered right to your inbox — for free!

Get on up, Reno! Here's everything you need to know to get this Friday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Considerable cloudiness. High: 57 Low: 33.

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. It's another holiday season of giving thanks and for Anthoney Galbraith, that means giving back to the community through his annual Thanksgiving food drive for the homeless. For the past 13 years, Galbraith worked as a chef, so he was used to cooking all the food from scratch while working out of his grandma's kitchen. However this year, he's getting help from Big T's Burger Bar to dish out Turkey sandwich dinners. This is Galbraith's 8th year distributing meals. It's now a tradition he shares with his family and he's hoping to share it with others too. (KOLO)
  2. The Washoe County Sheriff is sounding the alarm on the opioid crisis. He says Reno has become a drug dealer's pit stop and it's killing people. He says too many drugs sold on the streets of Northern Nevada have a deadly dose of Fentanyl. Washoe County deputies are begging parents to warn their children about the deadly drugs. (KTVN)
  3. A man connected to a 9-month-old baby who was recently resuscitated with Narcan after a fentanyl exposure has been arrested in Reno. (KRNV My News 4)
  4. A man who was shot and wounded by police after opening fire at officers in Reno is now facing multiple charges. (KRNV My News 4)
  5. Flooding can be a big problem in the Reno area if conditions are right, which is something you might not think about living in a desert. This is why the National Weather Service is promoting flood awareness week. (KTVN)
