🌱Luxury Housing Replaces Motel + Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe Opening

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Hey Reno: As you may know, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage on Tuesday that affected the Reno Daily. Some of you might have received a late newsletter on Wednesday, or no newsletter at all. Please know this was unfortunately beyond our control, but know that we are fully back in business! -Rachel Kilimnik

First, today's weather:

Morning snow showers; colder. High: 40 Low: 15.

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. A new apartment complex is now open in west Reno called Westlook Luxury Housing. The City of Reno said removing these "blighted properties" will strengthen neighborhoods and reduce the crime rate. Before the new apartment complex was put in, the city says it was home to a vacant motel for six months. (KRNV My News 4)
  2. Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe announced it will open for the season on Friday, Dec. 10 for skiing and snowboarding. According to the resort, the Northwest Express lift is scheduled to operate serving intermediate and advanced terrain only. Open trails will include Upper Northwest Passage down through the Kit Carson Bowl. Beginner terrain is not available at this time. (KOLO)
  3. Reno's Adrian Lin is trying to raise money to install a "pump track" at Sierra Vista Park. Pump tracks are trails with little mounds and banked curves, giving bicycle riders the ability to perform tricks. There are very few pump tracks in the Reno area, with the closest located at Panther Valley Park. That's in an industrial area while this one would be in a neighborhood.(KOLO)
