Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- Mayor Hillary Schieve has declared May 2 as a Day of Hope for the City of Reno. In 2019, Reno became the first to participate in the Hopeful Cities initiative, which "[equips] cities around the world with the tools they need to create, maintain, and grow hope, citywide," according to the Hopeful Cities website. Visit the Hopeful Cities website to learn more about the project. (KOLO)
- Slide, bounce, and play at the Reno River Festival! Head downtown from May 7-8 to enjoy the Reno Tahoe Adventure Park within RiverFest, which features a mega rock climbing wall, aqua hamster balls, a mega trampoline bungee, giant inflatables rides, and more. Festival tickets cost $10 and are valid for the entire weekend; tickets can be purchased here. (Facebook)
- If you're looking to add a furry friend to your family, consider starting your search with Reno area shelters. According to the ASPCA, millions of pets enter shelters each year, but only half are adopted. Visit Patch to see the adorable, adoptable pets across the Reno area awaiting their forever homes.
