Morning, neighbors! Rachel Kilimnik here with your brand-new Reno Daily.
First, today's weather:
Rather cloudy and cool. High: 57 Low: 46.
Here are the top stories today in Reno:
- Multiple arrests and citations were made during the Reno Police Department's drunk driving crackdown on Saturday. Officers made 36 stops throughout the day, leading to five DUI arrests and six traffic citations. The initiative was funded by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety. (KOLO)
- Reporters are concerned that media are being prevented from providing electronic coverage of local court proceedings. Judges are required to rule on the record when denying a request for media coverage of a trial. Media outlet Our Nevada Judges says Washoe County Judge Barry Breslow did not respond to a request to videotape a recent trial and blocked access to a Nov. 4 hearing, thereby denying the public the opportunity to learn about the case. (ThisisReno)
- The Washoe County Health District held its first children's COVID-19 vaccination clinic this weekend, giving hundreds of local children their first vaccine dose. Another kids-only clinic is planned for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (KOLO)
- Reno's Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts has finally reopened after 19 months with a production of Hamilton, running now through Nov. 14. (KUNR Public Radio)
- James Patrick Burns, 53, will face trial in Reno federal court beginning Jan. 3 for multiple child pornography charges. (Nevada Appeal)
