🌱 NorCal Storm Road Closures + Vaccination Requirements Update

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Happy Tuesday, Reno! These are the most important things happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

A little snow, mainly later. High: 32 Low: 22.

Here are the top 3 stories in Reno today:

  1. The NorCal storm caused closures on major roads and left 69,000 people without power. Authorities are encouraging everyone to refrain from mountain travel due to toppling trees and inclement weather. Interstate 80 will remain closed from Applegate Road in Placer County to the Nevada state line, and Highway 50 is closed from Placerville to Meyers. Stay safe out there! (KCRA Sacramento)
  2. Regents schedule an emergency meeting to reconsider COVID-19 vaccination requirements for college and university employees. The original requirement called for employees to get vaccinated by Dec. 31 or face termination. There were exceptions for certain medical conditions and religious beliefs. Regents is now deciding among allowing the existing mandate to remain in place, delaying the termination date to Jan. 15, or repealing the rule altogether. (News4)
  3. A Reno-based web development company, BDG Web Design, acquires office in $537563 deal. The headquarters is located at 243 Stewart St. The owners, Brandon Gottier and Morgan Gottier, state that their company is looking to expand from its current client base of 250 to 300 by the end of next year. They believe that their new headquarters will help bring them closer to achieving that goal. (Northern Nevada Business Weekly)
