Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. The Sparks Police Department is investigating a Reno Police Department officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Monday on Kingfisher Driver. The shooting victim has been taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is unclear what led to the shooting. (KOLO)
  2. The Reno Police Department Chief will be presenting the Chief's Commendation Award to religious statesman Rajan Zed during a special ceremony on Aug. 29. The ceremony will be held at the department's headquarters. The award is being presented for Zed's peacebuilding efforts. (Carson Now)
  3. The Downtown Reno Partnership has announced the hiring of a new Marketing Manager and Office Manager. Brian Bosma has been appointed the organization's Marketing Manager. They are confident that his knowledge and positive energy will enable the organization to flourish. Kristen Saibini has been appointed as Office Manager. (Nevada Business)

  • The US National Weather Service Reno Nevada reports that thunderstorms are possible this week as monsoonal moisture returns.
