Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. On Tuesday, a Pine Middle School teacher was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a former student several years ago. Jose Luis Flores-Montelongo was charged into Washoe County Jail for the following felony charges: 5 counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 16, 2 counts of lewdness with a child under the page of 16, and 1 count of sexual activity by an adult school employee with a student under the age of 16. He is currently being held without bail. (Reno Gazette-Journal)
  2. For the past three years, the Reno area has had a short water supply, leading to an area-wide drought. This looks to continue this summer, as the Truckee Meadows Water Authority reports a prolonged drought. Despite this news, Reno is expected to be in a better position in terms of water supply than last year. (The Nevada Independent)
  3. The University of Nevada, Reno's food pantry, Pack Provisions, now offers more food choices for students in need. The pantry was started to eliminate barriers students and community members have in accessing food. As demand increased last fall, Pack Provisions made partnerships with vendors to give students and faculty more options for well-rounded choices. (KOLO)
