🌱 Police Shoot Reno Suspect + REMSA Changing 911 Call Protocols

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Morning, people of Reno! It's me again, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Reno Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and cold. High: 39 Low: 13.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Reno:

  1. This past Wednesday night, a Sparks police officer reportedly shot and killed a suspect. The incident took place in Reno during a police investigation at an apartment complex. According to reports, the police officer shot the suspect after the suspect tried to run away from authorities. The name of the man who was shot has not been disclosed and additional details about the event have not been provided. Currently, the Reno police department is investigating this incident. (SFGate)
  2. The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority, better known as REMSA, is making changes to 911 response calls in an effort to alleviate the inundated system. According to reports, around 30 percent of calls made to emergency services have been for first aid level care such as toothaches, sprained ankles, and rashes. REMSA is working to set guidelines to follow before making a call to lessen unnecessary calls and free up resources for people in need. (FoxReno.com)
  3. A woman was hit and killed by her own car in south Reno at the U.S. Post Office on McCabe Drive yesterday afternoon at around 4:00 p.m. According to reports, investigators stated that the woman was suffering from a medical emergency while in the parking lot. During the emergency, she got out of her car and the car rolled over on her. No additional details have been provided. (KOLO)
