Welcome to the Reno Daily! This is your go-to for all things going on in Reno.

Good morning, Reno! It's Monday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories in and around Reno today:

  1. The Reno Arch turned pink on Saturday night for the third annual Paint Nevada Pink campaign. The downtown Reno event, which also includes activities, speakers, and food trucks, is just one of many across Nevada designed to raise awareness for the importance of regular screening mammograms. Speakers at the event included Reno City Council member and breast cancer survivor Neoma Jardon, local advocate Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell, and local breast cancer survivors. (KTVN)
  2. Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam announced the kickoff of the Sheriff's Office popular "No Shave" fundraising campaign, running through Jan. 31. In exchange for a monthly charitable donation, the sheriff has authorized male deputies to grow facial hair outside standard grooming policy and female deputies to have relaxed hair standards. Civilians can also take advantage of the relaxed grooming standards as well as wear hats, sports jerseys, and/or attire that supports branches of the United States Armed Forces. The office has chosen a different charity recipient each month, with October's funds going toward Pinocchio's Moms on the Run for breast cancer awareness. (KTVN)
