Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- Washoe County's registrar of voters had her last official day on Sunday. Deanna Spikula will be replaced by Interim Registrar Jamie Rodriguez. Spikula's last year in the position was met with death threats, staffing shortages, and national media appearances. While it is unclear what Spikula will do next, the former registrar reportedly intends to continue working in elections. (Reno Gazette Journal)
- Reno casinos report that revenue decreased by 4.8 percent last month. The city's casinos only brought in $85.6 million. Nevada casinos finished the 2022 fiscal year with winnings totaling more than $14.63 billion. This is the highest recorded total ever. (Tahoe Daily Tribune)
- Washoe County School District is collecting school supplies donations on Friday, Aug. 5. The event will be at the Walmart location on Vista Knoll Parkway in Lemmon Valley. The event will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Click for a list of school supplies that the district needs. (2 News)
