In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council:

D.4.1 - Coronavirus Relief Fund Updates

Council was provided with updates on remaining plans for CARES Act fund distribution. That includes final contributions to the Regional Emergency Operations Center, support for the unsheltered population and the new Nevada Cares Campus, and a total of $3.3 million in housing support.

B.6 - COVID Mobile Patient Care Unit

Council approved the use of CARES Act funding to acquire a unit for the Reno Fire Department. This mobile vaccination unit would allow RFD the flexibility to provide a vaccination station in safe and secure areas. This could apply to the COVID vaccine and flu shots or other immunizations moving forward.

B.13 - Talkspace Mental Health Initiative

Council approved a program to provide 12 months of digital mental health care therapy sessions for 200,000 Reno residents. The agreement with Talkspace includes local and remote therapy providers to work with any Reno resident over the age of 13 for free. This funding was provided by CARES Act funding.

D.4.5 - Nevada Cares Campus Agreement

Council approved the final agreement between the City of Reno and the Reno Housing Authority for creation of the Nevada Cares Campus on East 4th Street. The campus will be a central location for temporary housing for the unsheltered population. It will include nearly 46,000 new square footage of housing. Acquisition of the land was paid through CARES Act funding.

D.3 - Municipal Court

Council approved a special meeting for January 14 to interview and potentially appoint a judge for Municipal Court Department 4.

G.1.1 - Access Advisory Commission

Council reappointed Erik Jimenez and appointed Jack Mayes and Diana Rovetti.

G.1.5 - Ward 4 Neighborhood Advisory Board

Council reappointed Corey Bond, and appointed John Briscoe and Jared Souther.

G.1.6 - Ward 5 Neighborhood Advisory Board

Council reappointed Mac Rossi and appointed Alex Goff.
