Reno And Sparks Partner With Walgreens To Offer Free Coronavirus Testing

Testing capacity is limited, and appointments may be scheduled up to three days in advance (if available).

Utilizing CARES funding, the cities of Reno and Sparks are partnering with Walgreens to offer residents free COVID-19 testing. Beginning Sunday, December 27, 2020, residents can make an online appointment on the Walgreens website by visiting Walgreens.com/COVID19testing. Testing will be available at eight local Walgreens locations:

More information for residents to know:

  • Testing capacity is limited, and appointments may be scheduled up to three days in advance (if available).
  • Once residents make an appointment, the testing will be conducted in a drive-thru (patients will remain in their cars).
  • The test is a self-administered nasal swab. Children (ages 3 and older) can also be tested with a parent or guardian present (parent or guardian will have to administer the nasal swab for them).
  • Face coverings and government-issued IDs are mandatory.

“This exciting and necessary partnership will help alleviate the strain on Washoe County Health District and our hospitals, while providing a better understanding of how COVID-19 is moving through our community,” Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said.

“We are at a critical point in our fight against COVID-19,” Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson said. “We need to work together and continue to do our part, and this collaboration is a testament to our community’s commitment to doing just that.”
