Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- The University of Nevada, Reno is offering field plot tours. The tours will be exhibiting drought-tolerant and high-demand crop research. The university's research will be pivotal in the state's long-term sustainability efforts to deal with a limited water supply. The Reno tour will be on Aug. 12. (Carson Now)
- The Reno Aces are hosting Star Wars night tonight. This is the first time in three years that the team is doing the popular event. Participants will have the opportunity to take pictures with various characters, eat Star Wars-themed treats, and drink thematic cocktails. The team will also be auctioning off its Star Wars jerseys to support the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation. The game begins at 6:35 p.m. against the Salt Lake City Bees. (KOLO)
- The Reno Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of smoke at the corner of E. 4th Street and Evans Avenue. The smoke was reportedly coming from Shoeman's Custom Cycle. 40 firefighters responded to the incident on Friday morning. (KOLO)
