🌱 Shop Local With Secret Sparks + Whole Wellness Clinic Coming
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.
Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Rachel Kilimnik, your host of the Reno Daily.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and chilly. High: 45 Low: 23.
Here are the top stories in Reno today:
- A campaign called Secret Sparks is encouraging people to shop locally this holiday season, and encouraging people to get out and explore some of the new businesses that have set up shot in the Rail City. One of those is Paleteria del Angel, a traditional Mexican ice cream shop right across the street from Reed High School. The paleteria is a dream years in the making that further deferred by the pandemic. (KTVN)
- Mark your calendars for the Whole Wellness Clinic presented by Anthem, Immunize Nevada, and Liberty Dental Plan. It will include free services including flu and COVID-19 vaccines, dental screenings, fluoride varnish, and Medicaid enrollment. You can win prizes for just going early or attending .(KOLO)
- The Washoe County School District graduation rates may have declined in 2020, but two local high schools, Academy of Arts Careers and Technology and TMCC High School, were able to produce a 100% graduation rate. They say the reason is the personal relationships they build and the size of the school too, that is a little smaller than most, allowing teachers to focus on each person and allowing students to get the attention they need. (KTVN)
